Resting along the Pacific coastline are sandy beaches and surfing paradises which make the beach playgrounds of LA.
Santa Monica, Huntington Beach, Newport Beach and Laguna Beach are four destinations for those who love to be by the sea.
Santa Monica is blessed with 3½ miles of broad sandy coastline. It is a compact, friendly and walkable city with a new metro line into Downtown LA. The city is just 20 minutes from Los Angeles airport and is famous for its beach and The Pier. Dating back to 1909, The Pier is an unique attraction that evokes the historic heyday of the beachfront carnival. Dining is fine and the shopping is superb especially along 3rd Street Promenade.
To the South, Huntington Beach exudes a surf vibe with 8 miles of sandy beach and bike path. The perfect location for those who wish to a relax in a beach resort but yet within a 30 minute drive of Disneyland without venturing onto a major highway. The small town, by the pier has surf shops, cafés and restaurants.
Newport Beach is the very close neighbouring city to Huntington Beach. A marina, fantastic seafood restaurants, beach and millionaire mansions line the coast and inlet. Take a boat trip out to spot sea lions, go shopping or laze on the beach which stretches 9 miles.
Laguna Beach is considered one of the most beautiful and luxurious California coastal towns. Home to mansions and quaint cottages that line bluffs above the sandy coves, this is the best place for tide pools and diving. Many boutiques, cafés and art galleries line the streets. Go surfing, cycling or take a day trip to one of the nearby islands.
