Fashionably retro Baltimore is just an hour from Washington and has a host of things to see and do.
Fell Point is lined with old warehouses converted into stylish shops, restaurants and bars. On the historic waterfront you can visit the fully rigged USS Constellation or explore a Second World War submarine. The Inner Harbor boasts more than 100 waterside restaurants and cafés.
Annapolis is the sailing capital of the US and is a vibrant centre for arts and culture. It has more than 20 art galleries. It is also home to the US Naval Academy where more than 4,000 midshipmen train to become naval officers. The narrow streets feature historic homes and restored buildings. The waterfront harbour allows for ship watching and harbour cruises.
Maryland’s Eastern Shore has many quaint villages and towns to explore. St Michaels, Oxford, Cambridge, Ellicott City and many more offer historic and picturesque towns and harbours with antique shops, ice cream parlours and cafés. The Brannock Maritime Museum, Dorchester Heritage Museum and Richardson Museum provide a wonderful insight to Chesapeake Bay’s maritime and aviation history.
